The 12 days of Ship-a-ton
Happy Friday fellow shippers! We're down to 12 days to the end of the Ship-a-ton! We can't wait to see what you all have been cooking up.
A few submission tips
Now that some of you all are starting to submit your apps, I've wrote up a few tips to make your submissions shine.
Start submitting to the stores now
With less than 2 weeks left, we really recommend at least getting a V1 submitted to the App Store or Google Play Store as soon as possible. This will give you some time to deal with possible rejections and still make sure your app is live in the store by September 18th.
For all of you building iOS 18 only apps, Apple will hopefully start allowing submissions early next week after their event on Monday. We'd recommend submitting as soon as Apple opens that up.
Double check the rules
When you're creating your submission in DevPost, PLEASE make sure to double check the submission requirements to make sure you app is eligible!
We would hate for you to miss out on your chance to win because you forgot to include an app icon or screenshot of your app.
Keep it short and sweet
You all have embraced the shipping spirit so much more than we expected, which means our judges are going to have a lot of apps to sort through. So try to make your submission compelling and to the point. A short video is a great way to stand out and show off the best parts of your app.
Celebrate!
Shipping is hard! Often we get so caught up in the post-release feedback and bug fixes that we forget to celebrate the milestone of successfully getting our hard work pushed out into the world. So, go out for that nice meal, get your favorite desert, or just take a night off and play board games with some friends. Just remember that you truly accomplished something and you should be proud of it!
A few more odds and ends.
The community developing around the Ship-a-ton has been such an exciting development. Last week we mentioned the Product Hunt event happening September 24th where you could win some one-of-a-kind, custom hand-crafted sneakers.
Also this week the developers of the Helm announced they're running a 50% off sale for shippers like you till the end of the Ship-a-ton. So check that out if you're interested in a native Mac app for accessing App Store connect.
See you all next week for the FINAL Friday update! Have a great weekend everyone!
